Parish Council
One of the objectives in the Parish Plan was to investigate
the possibility of revamping the Newsletter. This could include
increasing the size and paying for it by advertising. However,
this can only be achieved if someone is willing to take on
the task. If there are any budding journalists out there who
are computer literate or if you would just like some further
information, don't hesitate to give me a call on 01359 269701.

Village Bonfire & Fireworks
Euston Estate have kindly given permission for a Bonfire Party
to be held at the rear of the Village Hall on 5th November
at 6.00pm. BBQ food and drinks will be available from 6.00pm.
Village Hall insurance regulations require that only the officials
in the display area are allowed to let off fireworks brought
to the party and sparklers may not be let off in the crowd.
Combustible items may be put on the bonfire before the 5th
but please do not include mattresses, toxic or dangerous materials.

Honington School
The Stable Block The Governors and Staff are delighted that
we are now able to share with you plans for the future use
of the Stable Block. Honington School has been selected to
host the Western Area Satellite for the County Inclusive Resource
for pupils with Special Educational Needs. The Resource will
provide support for our own staff and pupils and for other
staff and pupils in their own schools.
The County Inclusive Resource works in partnership with parents,
mainstream schools and other agencies. They work together
to foster and share expertise and good practice, developing
a high quality, inclusive learning environment which enables
pupils with Special Educational Needs, particularly Autistic
Spectrum Disorder (ASD), to complete their education in their
own mainstream schools.
The newly appointed staff based at Honington will work with
schools in the Western Area of Suffolk to enhance and develop
their skills in meeting the needs of these pupils. There will
also be training opportunities for our staff and for staff
from other schools. As part of the project the Stable Block
will undergo considerable refurbishment, with minimal disturbance
to the running of the school, and we are pleased that it will
be used to further the education of children once again.
This is an exciting development for Honington School and we
welcome the opportunity to work with the County Inclusive
Resource to support pupils with specific needs throughout
the Western Area of Suffolk.
In December the whole school will be
taking part in our Christmas play "Stable Story".
Local residents will be welcome to come at 10.00am on Wednesday
7th December with parents coming on Thursday and Friday 8thg
and 9th also at 10.00am. The Friends of Honington School will
be holding a Christmas Coffee Morning on Friday 16th December
from 9.00 - 11.00am to which you are all invited. BAB

W.I.
We held our own craft event to start the month off in an artistic
mood when our Secretary, Tricia Fojut, hosted a card workshop
day at the Village Hall. At our October evening meeting Mr
Durand brought along slides of American National Parks. We
enjoyed our Grafton Group meeting at Barnham WI, which was
also attended by Troston, Ixworth and Great Barton WIs. The
speaker for the evening was Bryan Thurlow talking about Music
Halls. Seven members also attended the Suffolk West Federation's
Autumn Council Meeting at the Corn Exchange when the guest
speaker was Canon Roger Royle. Our Annual Meeting will be
on November 8th when there will be a competition for three
squares of gingerbread for the Cath Balaam Memorial Cup. DA
Over Sixties Club
Some of our members went to Barnham Over Sixties at the end
of September where speaker, Dorothy Matthews, talked about
the making of the vestments for Ely Cathedral. She had kindly
brought along some of the beautiful hand stitched robes for
us to view. Our thanks to Barnham for an interesting afternoon
and also the bountiful tea which was served to us. On the
6th October we met at the Village Hall for our usual afternoon
of games, tea and a chat. On the 3rd November we are having
a pub lunch at the Dun Cow in Bardwell and meetings in the
Village Hall will start at 2.00pm from November onwards until
further notice. KK
Autumn Fair
The Autumn Fair is on Saturday 12th November at Sapiston Village
Hall, starting at 2.00pm. We do hope you will come along and
support this even in aid of Honington Church, and if you have
any items you would like to donate to the event we would be
very grateful if you could get them to the following people:
David & Barbara Williams - Tombola; Louise Homer and Sue
Reeve - White Elephant; Clair Smith - produce and preserves.
Any books, videos, cakes or prizes for the raffle can be collected
by Gill Farrow if you contact her on 01842 763660. GF
The Fox Inn News
Post Office Counter: Following the announcement that Reg Sheppard
intends to retire, we have started negotiations with The Post
Office with a view to siting a part time post office counter
at The Fox Inn. We invite feedback on what services people
would use and require us to provide. Please let us know if
you would use the facility on 269522.
Armistice Day Breakfast: Sunday 13th November. We are holding
a free running breakfast buffet after the Armistice Day Service
at All Saint's Church, Honington. This is a Village Community
Event and concludes our villages' celebrations of The 60th
Anniversary of Peacetime. All are invited, and no purchases
are necessary. All decorated servicemen and women will get
a sherry on the house. There will be a Bar-Bucket for the
Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal . ST

going to John Cusworth, second prize to Libby Balaam and third

Advent is a Time for Giving!
This year Honington Church is collecting tools for TOOLS WITH
A MISSION, which sends tools across the world to be used by
people who are too poor to buy them. If you have any tools
that are muscle-powered we would love you to give them to
us. Leave them at the Rectory in the second shed from the
left (it has an FCN plaque on the door!). They will also take
electric tools, but only in good working order and they don't
need decorating tools or lawn mowers. The list of tools they
will take is too long to print, but here are a few you might
have in your home: sewing machines, knitting machines, saws,
hammers, drills, hoes, typewriters, axes, vices, tool boxes,
spanners, socket sets, screw drivers, smoothing planes, trowels
etc. If you have any questions or more than you can carry,
please ring Wendy on 01359 268375.
Church News
There is so much happening this month that it is hard to know
where to begin, so why not start with the Stained Glass Window
Project? This has at last moved on and in fact the artist,
Pippa Blackall, is working on it and all the necessary permissions
have been obtained. It started so long ago that it may be
that some people might have liked to contribute to it but
knew nothing about it. We have been fortunate in the response
the original appeal made, but any donation, however large
or small, will make you part of this joint Village Project
and we shall be most grateful for your help. David Williams
at Heathfield Lodge is treasurer for the Project.
We have two very beautiful gifts in memory of two very well
loved parishioners who died last year. On the 6th November
at 9.15am at Honington, we will dedicate a new pulpit fall
and communion set given in memory of Decima Borley. On Sunday
27th November at 9.15am in Sapiston Church we will dedicate
a Chair made and given in memory of Mervyn Thurlow - two very
special occasions.
Remembrance Sunday is on the 13th - especially poignant this
year - when we will as usual lay a wreath on the war memorial
and one on the war graves. We shall also have the flags of
all the nations of the Service Personnel buried in our churchyard
- a gift from our 60th Anniversary of VE/VJ Day earlier in
the year and a lasting memorial. The Service will be at 9.15am.
We are fortunate to have so many kind people in our village
- a musician is offering to bring his choir to give us a concert
of delightful music in Honington Church at 7.30pm on the 26th
November, followed by refreshments. Do join us for this evening.
Advent is about to start - more of that next month - but see
the back of the Church for information about what is on offer.
