We were captivated last month by our speaker
from the East Anglian Air Ambulance Service, Jenny
Howell, who was such an enthusiastic speaker. Funded
entirely by charitable donations, the vital service
(launched in 2000 by Frankie Dettori) initially
operated for just one day a week but a generous
donation from the AA meant that its £2,500
per day operating costs could be met and the helicopter
was able to start operating 7 days a week. The service
flew 1,144 missions in 2004 among which were 658
RTA's, 56 horse riding accidents and nearly 100
sporting, work or farm related incidents. It certainly
deserves everyone's support. The competition last
month for an Acrostic using the word Ambulance was
won by Margaret Ridgewell with Marion Cusworth second
and Delyse Ray third. Next month's meeting on the
10th May is the Resolution meeting where the two
topics on Care of the Environment and Farmgate Milk
Prices will be debated. The competition is for a
flower arrangement in a dessert dish and the roll
call is A Pudding I Don't Like! Please come along
and join us, you'd be most welcome - we meet on
the second Tuesday of the month in the Village Hall.

Over Sixties Club:
In April our Club met twice - our first meeting
saw the lunch on the Good Neighbour Scheme, which
was well attended; our second meting was for our
AGM where the whole committee was re-elected. This
was followed by tea and a supprise draw. On the
5th May at 1.00pm we are all lunching at The Fox
and our other meeting will be at the Village Hall
on the 19th at 2.30pm. The Club have also been invited
to Barnham Over Sixties on the 12th May for tea
and entertainment. We wish Ada Sydney a speedy recovery
and look forward to seeing her back at our meetings.

May. MC
Church News:
May is always such a busy month - in Honington
especially as it is 'pre Rural Pastimes Month' when
so many are so busy getting things organised for
the day - a day which helps both the Hospice and
our Church - so thank you everyone who helps in
any way. If anyone has anything for either the Grand
Draw or the Tombola please ring me on 269265 and
I will arrange to collect or simply drop it in at
the Rectory.
The first Sunday of the month is Rogation Sunday
so the morning service will have a Rogation flavour
while in the afternoon there will be a Rogation
Walk, beginning at Sapiston Church and ending up
with tea at Meadow Farm, Sapiston, with the lessing
of crops ad livestock on the way (dogs are very
welcome - on leads please!). The blessing will be
mostly at places accessible to cars so if you find
walking a problem don't be put off as you won't
be left out.
Thursday 5th May is Ascension Day and it has become
the custom to have a Deanery Service in the evening
- this year at Pakenham at 7.30pm. It is a good
thing for us to get together from time to time,
as a Deanery and this special day seems a very good
opportunity.
On Thursday 12th we hold our Annual Meeting - at
7.30pm in Church. It is an opportunity to say thank
you to our hardworking Churchwardens, Deputy Wardens,
Treasurer, Secretary and PPC, as well as an opportunity
for you to share your ideas about what we might
do and to hear the latest on the window project
(some progress I am glad to say!). Everyone is welcome..
Sally Fogden.
