Over Sixties Club
Our Bangers & Mash Supper on the 26th January was a very
successful and sociable evening for around 95 members and
guests who were able to attend. Our thanks to all who worked
so hard to give us such an enjoyable supper, followed by a
raffle organised by Albert. On the 2nd February 21 members
gathered at The Fox for a roast beef lunch, our first of two
meetings this month. Despite The Fox's chef, Dee, having sustained
a broken leg, Sean and his merry band of helpers cooked us
a lovely meal which we all enjoyed, followed by a game of
bingo and our usual draw with the first prize, a bottle of
Bells, donated by Sean. It was nice to see Ada, Dorothy and
Doug with us again after their recent spell of ill health.
We met as usual at the Village Hall on the 16th for a very
sociable afternoon of cards, bingo and dominoes, followed
by afternoon tea and the usual chat. KK
Good Neighbours
We are still an active organisation, so if you need any help,
however small, don't hesitate to call us on: 07950 930981
Neighbourhood Watch
Distraction burglaries are still occurring in our area. Please
be on your guard when an unknown caller comes to your door.
Petty theft from garages and sheds is on the increase with
the lighter nights. Thieves are very active at Knettishall
again. Don't leave anything on view in your car when you go
for a walk. Leave your valuables at home. Report any suspicious
activity, secure your property and we will make it difficult
for the criminals.

It was a great pleasure to welcome Mr Horry Parsons as our
guest speaker on St. Valentine's Day, accompanied by his wife.
Horry spoke to us about his last project before retirement
- building the St Edmundsbury Cathedral Tower. As team leader
for the main contractors he had many anecdotes and interesting
facts and figures to tell us about. Josie Goddard gave the
vote of thanks on behalf of the members. At next month's meeting
on the 14th March at the Village Hall, we will be welcoming
our speaker, Michael Bentinck who will be talking about Wartime
Women of Suffolk. We have heard that this is a very interesting
talk so anyone who would like to come along as a visitor would
be very welcome. The competition is for Suffolk Rusks, to
a recipe given out at the last meeting, and the roll call
is to name a wartime hero or heroine. DA
WI Annual Quiz
It was wonderful to see so many people at the Quiz - we had
21 tables in all! We hope everyone who came enjoyed the questions,
the tricky marathon and the refreshments. It was a very close
fight with the We Three team from Fakenham Magna emerging
as triumphant winners. Thank you to all the helpers and we
do hope you keep a free slot in your diaries for next year.

The February Draw took place during the Over Sixties meeting
at the Village Hall. First prize went to Trevor Jay, second
prize to Mr & Mrs Alan Moore and third prize to Michael
Stock. This month will be the last draw from the current subscriptions.
We were able to pay out £650 in prize money and £632.50
was raised for our Church, so a big thank you to everyone
who took part. It would be a great help, should you want to
join in next year's draw, if you could let me have the subscription
of £13, along with your name and address, sometime during
the month of March. I will leave a box in our new Post Office
adjoining The Fox, or you could put it through my letterbox
at Boreham House, Sapiston. Many thanks. MC
