Honington & Sapiston Parish Council
Thanks to those who attended the recent AGMs. The Chairman
outlined work carried out by the Parish Council over the past
12 months. These included: supporting the post office move
to The Fox and helping with the expansion of the community
computer facility; working with the highways agency to improve
the safety of our roads and to continue to work with WPC Whittaker
to monitor speeding through the village; looking to develop
the need for affordable housing in the village. Plans for
the coming year include: a gazebo structure for the playing
field to provide some shelter; a post box for the central
part of the village; to ascertain whether there is funding
available to provide more street lighting. The Parish Council
will next meet on Monday 17th July at 7.30pm in Honington
School Hall. LP
Over Sixties Club
Our meeting on the 26th April was the 50th anniversary of
the founding of the Over Sixties Club in the village. We were
joined by the Duchess of Grafton and members of the Barnham
Over Sixties Club at the village hall where Brian Thurlow
and Gloria entertained us with the history of the music hall
with anecdotes, monologues and old music hall songs, which
we all enjoyed very much. We then enjoyed a lovely homemade
tea and a poem, written by Ada Sidney and read by her daughter
Carole, celebrating the club's anniversary. Our thanks to
all who gave us such a lovely celebration of a special day.
4th May brought us to our AGM. 21 members attended and we
were treated to ham salad, followed by fruit and cream, tea
or coffee before we got on with the business of the meeting.
Minutes of last year's meeting were read as were reports from
our secretary and treasurer. This was followed by Marion,
our Chairperson, who thanked our club officials and committee
members for their hard work during the year. All the aforementioned
were re-elected to office for another year. Subs remain at
£4 per annum and a list of dates for the forthcoming
year were handed to members. A small gift was given to Dorothy
and Doug who recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary
- congratulations to them both.
Our meeting on the 18th May was the usual mix of bingo, whist
and dominoes, followed by tea and chat. We have meetings in
June on the 1st and 15th of the month and may I remind you
of Syd Thurlow's coffee morning on Tuesday 20th June commencing
at 10.00am. KK

Our President, Patricia Fojut, welcomed members to our resolution
meeting. We had two resolutions to discuss this year - one
to encourage people of all ages to take part in regular exercise
or sport to assist good health; and secondly, to increase
the use of renewable energy sources in new and renovation
building projects. Our delegate will vote on our behalf at
the AGM held in June at the International Arena in Cardiff.
Visiting our meeting in June will be Belly Dancer, Sadasa.
The roll call this month will be to name a dance and the competition
is to bring along a piece of exotic jewellery.

anything at all on view in your car. Lock everything in your
boot, even your Sat.Nav. Two Motorbikes have been stolen from
locked garages in our area. If you have a valuable motorbike
the police suggest you find additional ways of securing it
in your garage. If you think you see something suspicious
dial 999 immediately.
There is a stray tabby cat with a white front living down
