W.I:
Several members enjoyed the traditional visit to
St Edmundsbury Cathederal early in December for
the WI Carol Service - such a lovley way to start
the Christmas festivities. We followed this a week
later with our christmas meal at The Gardener's
Arms in Tostock which was delicious. Our January
meeting starts 2005 off with a return visit from
a very popular speaker, Doreen Whitelock, who will
be talking about Musical Boxes. The Roll Call is
My Favourite Singer and the competition is to Bring
a Pretty Trinkett Box. We are very much looking
forward to our meetings in 2005 with lots of interesting
speakers and the usual mix of friendly company,
entertainment, education and outings. Please join
us on the second Tuesday of the month in the Village
Hall starting at 7.30pm. You are welcome to come
along as a guest to try us out! - There will soon
be copies of our yearly programme available in the
Post Office to tempt you. If you would like to come
with a current member please phone Doreen Avenell
on 269527 to arrange this. MR
Honington School
News:
All our Christmas festivities were much enjoyed
by the children and we would like to thank all those
who were able to come and watch the Christmas Plays
and join us for the Coffee Morning. Spring term
starts on Wednesday 5th January. MR
Over Sixties Club:
The tables for our Christmas party looked very attractive
and the meal was excelent - thanks to Mr & Mrs
Williams and their helpers. We all had a Christmas
card from the school children and the table decorations
were raffled off to the members. After lunch we
enjoyed listening to the Pearlies singing all the
old-fashioned songs and ending with Christmas Carols.
On Monday we had a preview of the school childrens
Christmas plays which were very good, followed by
tea and mincepies. Our meetings for January 2005
are on Thursday the 6th and 20th in the Village
Hall at 2.00pm. On Thursday 27th January there is
a bangers and Mash Supper - details available from
Marion Cusworth on 269492. AS
W.I. Village Quiz:
Yes, it's that time of year again - the annual WI
Quiz will be held on Thursday 17th February at 7.30pm
in the Village Hall. The cost is £10.00 per
table of four (£2.50 per person), which includes
refreshments. If you would liek to bring your own
drink you are very welcome, and tea or coffee will
be served in the interval. The evening is lots of
fun so why not book a table for your family, organisation
or group of friends, or neighbours - the rivalry
is stiff so don't let the side down by not being
there! Tables can be booked by ringing Margaret
Ridgwell on 01842 763180, Jo Lynch on 269648 or
Trish Fojut on 268442. Don't forget to think of
a name for your team on the night! MR
Neighbourhood

Our new Community Police Officer is WPC Lindsey
Whittaker. As well as being out and about in our
area she is holding a 'Surgery' at ixworth Library
on Sunday 9th January between 11.00 and 12 noon.
Do call and see her if you have a problem. Many
of you will have recieved a mobile phone for Christmas.
Did you know that if your phone is lost or stolen
it can be rendered useless? You will find a fifteen-digit
IMEI number by dialling into the phone *#06# or
sometimes by looking behind the battery. Make a
note of this number and if your ohone is stolen
or lost ring your provider quoting your IMEI number.
Once this is done the phone cannot be used, even
by changing the SIM card. Have a safe and Happy
New Year. MW

Church News:
Thankyou to everyone who made our churches look
so wonderful for the very special festival of Christmas.
The churches were much admired by the many who shared
in the Christmas Services - there was such a great
feeling at all the celebrations.
Thankyou to everyone who helped and came to the
wonderful party that was organised to celebrate
my MBE - a very special day followed by such a lovely
party.
As we come to the end of the year so our thoughts
are overshadowed by the terrible disasternin the
Indian Oceam - words cannot describe the horror
- there seems little we can do but there will be
a special collection on the first two Sundays of
January for the Disaster Appeal. Sometimes we feel
our little bit won't help but put all those little
bits together... Sally Fogden
