Funds from this Charity are distributed each December to help
with fuel bills in winter. This fund is for the benefit of

of a single woman/widow who is the householder, 60 years.

and thinks they may be entitled to do so should contact Mr
Shepherd at Honington Post Office or Avery Triggs on 269613.

Neighbourhood Watch
Please be aware that as the nights get longer the criminals
have more time to work. Lock away anything that could be stolen
or used to break into your property. Distraction burglaries
are still rife in our area - Water Board Officials and Meter
Readers are the most popular - but there are lots of other
scams. If in doubt keep them out and dial 999. MW
Village Hall Diary & News

Our Annual Meeting took place at the Village Hall on 8th November
when members were welcomed with a glass of sherry or juice.
The new Committee was announced and Patricia Fojut was elected
as President for the coming year. Delicious refreshments were
served, including the now traditional meringues. The Annual
Competition winners were Doreen Harris, Marion Cusworth, Jo
Lynch and Delyse Ray. The Cath Balaam Memorial Cup was presented
to Jacky Holland for the best gingerbread. Social time was
provided by Margaret & Fiona Ridgwell with a fun quiz
and spoof Christmas Carol which were much enjoyed by members.
Next month our meeting will be a Christmas Meal arranged to
take place at the Dun Cow in Bardwell on Tuesday 13th December.
We wish all members and friends a Very Happy Christmas and
hope that new residents and old friends will make 2006 the
year when you join the WI for fun, friendship and education.

Over Sixties Club
On the 3rd of November we again visited the Dun Cow in Bardwell
for another of their superb roast lunches, which all the 22
members attending enjoyed very much. Alan, the landlord, once
again kindly donated a bottle of wine and also a doll as prizes
towards our club raffle and we played bingo after our meal.
On the 17th November 19 members gathered at the Village Hall
for our usual fortnightly meeting. May I remind you all that
our Christmas lunch this year is on the 8th December when
we should all gather at the Village Hall at 12.30pm for a
1.00pm sit down. KK

Armistice Day Breakfast. We enjoyed a very poignant Armistice
Day Breakfast following on from the Remembrance Day Service
at Church on the 13th November to conclude the villages' celebrations
for the 60th Anniversary of the end of World War II. The breakfast
is now firmly fixed in our calendar as an annual event.
Glitter Up Friday at The Fox. This event in aid of Marie Curie
Community Nursing Appeal will take place on Friday 9th December.
Glitter up your cheekbones, shimmer in sequins, bedazzle in
bow ties and parade in party outfits. With the consequences
of cancer being felt so prominently in our community this
year we felt it appropriate to include this appeal in our
Fundraising Calendar - so let's Glitter Up Honington for the
full day. The bar pot will be for this appeal all weekend.
Christmas Prize Draw. Our Draw this year is to support the
Village Hall Committee in funding a Children's Craft Workshop
at the Village Hall in the New Year. The Draw is not only
for The Fox customers but also for the wider village community,
so please come in and buy a square to support our children.
The Draw will run from 1st December and will be drawn on Christmas
Eve at 11.00pm.
Late Night Shopping in Bury St Edmunds. The Fox Minibus will
be available for Thursday late night shopping on the 8th and
15th December. It will leave The Fox at 7.30pm prompt returning
from The Grapes at 10.30pm prompt. Please reserve places with
Sean or Paul on 269522. Seating available on a first come,
first served basis.
New Year's Eve Party. Our theme for this year is Bollywood,
so get out your Sari and your Duti and go for it! Door charge
of £3.00 includes buffet and effects.
Christmas Day Opening. We are opening for Christmas Day Drinks
& Nibbles from noon till 3.00pm, so if you are on your
own, don't be, we will gladly make a pot of tea or coffee
for those that don't partake. We are closed Christmas evening.
The Seasonal opening hours are displayed in the pub.
DES Campaign. We are supporting our Community Police Officer,
Lindsey Whittaker in her DES Campaign. DES is the DESignated
driver not drinking alcohol. Sean is Honington's DES and The
Fox Minibus is the DESmobile. If you need the service, ring
269522. This is a goodwill community-wide service. Don't Drink
and Drive.
Ian and Sean, along with Paul, Dee and Buddy would like to
wish all a very Special Christmas and Prosperous 2006.
Light Up A Life Appeal
Once again the St Nicholas Hospice will be holding their Light
Up A Life event in our nearby towns. It is well worth attending
one of these and remembering our loved ones, family or friends.
The Bury St Edmunds's event is on Wednesday 7th December at
7.00pm. A full list will be in the Church Porch with information
on how you can make a donation as well as a full list of times
and places for Light Up A Life. MC
Honington Church Draw
The November winners were: 1st Mrs Diane Pearce, 2nd Mrs Jill
Birch and 3rd Mrs Bobby Robertson. The special December Draw
will take place at the Over Sixties' meeting on the 15th December.
May I take this opportunity to wish everyone in Sapiston and
Honington a Very Happy Christmas and a Wonderful New Year.

Suffolk Historic Churches
Trust Bicycle Ride
Everyone's contributions for the above ride have now come
in and I have sent £835.50 to the Suffolk Historic Churches
Trust. This total was made up of £720.50 from the riders
and walkers and £115 from the recorders in the Churches.
This is a fantastic result and I would like to say a huge
thank you to everyone who helped. Claire Smith
Church News
December already and Christmas is coming up fast. But the
Church also uses this time of Advent as a time of getting
ready so we put on a special quiet service every Wednesday
evening at 7.30pm to give a little bit of space.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Autumn Fair in
any way. It was such a nice afternoon as well as a good money
raiser.
The appeal for old tools to be renovated and go out to the
Third World is still open - one carload has gone already.
This is something practical we can do to help and know that
these tools really can make a difference.
So what is going on over Christmas? The usual Christingle
Service to help the Children's Society, as well as the Carol
Service, the Christmas Eve Midnight Service and Services for
Christmas Day - something for everyone we hope.
